A Recap of a “Heck of a Day”

Amaya Banks ‘18

“To me there are three things everyone should do every day. Number one is laugh. Numbers two is think—spend some time in thought. Number three, you should have your emotions move you to tears. If you laugh, think, and cry, that’s a heck of a day”  – Jim Valvano, North Carolina’s Men’s Basketball Coach and sports broadcaster

If you attended the FCA banquet you had “a heck of a day” because the banquet was full of laughter, thought, and tears.

On Thursday, May 18 our FCA team held a banquet at Lake Side Church in Greensboro. The banquet was hosted by the FCA team leaders, Coach Demetrius Woods and Coach Julie Brooker. The FCA theme for this year was ONE, Philippians 1:27.

At the banquet our FCA team reflected on individual growth in Christ as well as growth as a whole club.  They displayed their accomplishments of this year;  the mission trip to Orlando, sharing the bridge with strangers, service at a homeless shelter, and service at Tangelo Elementary in Orlando. In the years to come, FCA plans on doing more things locally such as service projects, sports clinics, and mission trips.

What FCA did this year was just a preview of what is to come in the future, so either you can watch us grow or come grow with us.
